There are 5 monster card zones. That is where you play your monsters. There are wide amount of levels. There are normal monster cards and effect monsters. Normal have no effects or abilities. If you want to summon a monster, just simply place it on the field. This regards to from level 1-4. If you want to summon a level 5 or level 6, simply sacrifice or tribute the monster which goes to your graveyard. You have to sacrifice 2 monsters for a level 7  or higher. you can tell the levels by counting the stars on the right side of the card. You can activate a effect monster's effect any time in the game. Just be sure you read the effect carefully and follow the directions written on their card. Trap cards are cards that need to be placed face down before activated. You need to wait one turn. Spell cards are also placed in the zone where you play trap cards. Just be sure you pay any cost before activating them. You can activate spells any time you want any where. Any cards destroyed are sent to graveyard. You start with 8000 life points in the start of the game. Run out of life points, you lose the duel. You can also win if a card says so, but those cards are usually limited or forbidden in a duel, so check the websites before participating in tournaments. Next lesson is about the phases in a duel
