Phrase

The only thing you have to fear is fear itself.

Do not be afraid. Always try to be courageous. You only have to fear the thing that you call it.

Math-Surface Area and How to Find Them

Math- Surface Area and How to Find Them

As you know on the previous homework, you may not have understood it correctly. This would help you on the next homework about surface area.
Surface area is the area of the surface of a 3D figure. Surface area can be calculated by bring the shape to be transparent. This would help you note which side of the shape you did. For example, if you would be calculating the surface area of a rectangle, you would make it transparent. Then calculate the surface area. Then add. To find the surface area, you will have to make each side of the transparent figure look like a 2D figure.

This figure shows a transparent figure.

When you are writing your equations to solve each side of the shape, you must remember to multiply by 2. Then, you would not have to keep calculating the same side of the figure.

If there is a problem that does not show the shape in transparent. Draw a new shape you can clearly visualize so you can solve the problem.
For example:
A rectangle has a length of 6 in., a width of 8 in, a height of 1 in., what i the surface area of the figure?
You would have to write the following equations.

(6x8)2= ?
(6x1)2=?
(8x1)= ?

After that, you add your sub answer to get your final answer. Next Lesson: How to find the Surface Area of Trapezoids and Other 3D figures.

Math- Net and Surface Area

Nets are what the inside of a 3-D is and how it forms. Remember to do the net project that Mrs. Richards assigned too. Now a net is basically that. If you want to know right away on how to find the area

Fun Fact

Did you know that the hydrogen bomb is the most powerful of all nuclear bombs. Yet, it is the lightest chemical ever.

Science

Did you know that when acid making substances dissolve in water, hydrogen atoms lose their electron, becoming positively charged ions.

Weekly Question

This is the weekly question. Whoever answers any of these questions correctly passes this week.

Question: What is the area of a triangle with a base of 60 1/4 and a height of 70 3/4?

Question: What was David ' s consequences for his sin?

Question: True or false: Early humans started out as ape like creatures.

Grammar- Adjective Phrases

This is the next lesson in English that Mrs. Williams is bound to teach. Adjective Phrases

Adjective Phrases

An adjective describes a noun or pronoun  . Prepositional phrases can also describe nouns and pronouns. When they do, they are called adjective phrases. They can answer such questions as what kind? or which one?
Example:
Everyone in the gym is cheering.
The door to the building is locked.

Unlike most adjectives, adjective phrases come after the words they modify.

Math- Rules with Integers, Multiplying, Adding, Subtracting, and Dividing

Integers are numbers on a number line, as you may know. They can be positive or negative. Even though it is not common core, you can use this to help with surprise questions on the test.

Adding Integers

For problems that keep the same operation sign, add and keep the same signs. Remember: When adding negative integers, you can put the minus sign first so you don't forget it.
For problems that have different operation signs, subtract the numbers as if they were both positive, then use the sign of the number farther from zero.

Subtracting Integers

When subtracting integers, rewrite and use the addition of integers rules. If you are subtracting a negative integer, the two negatives are replaced by a positive sign because the opposite of negative is positive.

Multiplying Integers

positive × positive= positive
positive × negative= negative
negative × positive= negative
negative × negative= positive

Dividing Integers

positive ÷ positive= positive
positive ÷ negative= negative
negative ÷ positive= negative
negative ÷ negative = positive

Math- Formulas for Triangles.

Welcome! You want to find the area of a triangle? There is a formula for every shape in geometry! Especially if you want to find the area. That's what we are doing.
Formula is: 1/2 b h

Basically, it is base times height, divide by two. I would suggest you forget about multiplying fraction(1/2) for now, because it takes up your time. Just go on to divide by two and you will find your answer. Don't forget to check your work because it can be very critical if you don't.

There is also a way to solve area for composite figures for triangles. Mrs.Richards told us about separating the figures  so you can get the answer. She is right! Just divide the composite figure into a few basic shapes. Be warn however because you may have to identify a few bases and height or length and width. After you do that, which means after you solve it, you would add them up, as any sensible person would do. After that, you would get your answer.
